I own a medium sized business that has 4 offices across Southern california. I’m looking for a web based document management system that is simple to use for my non-tech savvy staff. On the average, we processed about 200 documents of different types a day. Most of it are PDFs, Tiff, Excel and Word documents. Your suggestions a would be greatly appreciated.

My Wife and I are looking for a good e-commerce website software to build, for our home based business. It should be simular to eBay’s with auction and buy it now capabilities.
It must also have the ability to let our friends and customers to sell on it also.
Since money is a factor, we are looking for something very reasonably priced.
It must be user friendly and administrator friendly and easy to use.
We have tried a couple out but they were very difficult to use and list on.
We also need the ability to choose our own Web Host.
If anyone has or knows of website software available that fits this criteria, Please let me know.
Thank you…
JIM

I was hired to a company and was fired the next day. It was a work at home business. There software is web based so it works on any computer with internet and a web browser. It said my reason of fired is “You logged in with a Windows computer and not a Mac. Window computers are really bad systems and full of holes.” it said. Was this right of them to do so? They never even told me i needed a Mac.

I want to do background screening for landlords, employers & condo associations. I need to find the software to do this but have been unable to locate it any place. I found one on the internet but it is to run a web based company. I want to do this from my home office and be able to give it the personal touch. I believe there will be fewer errors made this way. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.

Hi,
I’m starting a web-based coupon site in my local community and need to write a business plan. I’ve never done one before and don’t know quickbook or excel very well, so need a fill-in-the-blank type template. I’ve seen software for sale in the $300 to $400 range and also around $100. Of course, I’d prefer not to spend too much. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!!

I created a commercial web site, and the software I developed to run the site uses GPL’d libraries. As I understand the GPL, it’s okay to make profit of such a site without opening the source code I wrote, but what if I want to sell the entire business to someone else? Does it constitute a software distribution, and therefore requires me to open up the source to the general public?

Wanting advice about starting a possible online, home-based business. Currently a 3rd shift, part-time college student and wanting to explore this possiblity. Skills include excellent typing skills (80+wpm), desktop publishing skills (can easily create professional brochures, memos, pamplets, banners, etc), data entry, basic accounting, and web design (with Microsoft FrontPage). I’m sure this market is over-loaded with other business, but I would still like to see if I could be successful. I have most, if not all, of the required software/equipment such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Package Suite, scanners, internet, digital camera, etc.. My question(s) include: How would I successfully run and advertise my business? How and what services should I list that I can perform? How would I know what to charge compared to other “online” businesses? What legalities/liabilities should I be aware of? I’m limiting my investment to $0-$100. Thanks.
I would want to do this business part-time, but at least 30-35 hours a week. I can devote about 2-3 hours per day (Monday – Thursday), but then work all day long on Friday, Saturday, and Sundays. I have always had a love of doing these types of jobs for friends, family, and organizations that I am affiliated with, but would like to be able to earn an income if I could be successful.
I am not wanting anyone to answer with their own advertisment of web sites to “make money” or any SPAM! I will report you if you answer in this manner. I want advice or suggestions, not spam. If I wanted SPAM I would do a search and find it myself.

This is a generic question so I’ll break it down somewhat. What type of application are you using that doesn’t currently do the trick, why? What features should/shouldn’t it have? Maybe you’re a small business that can’t afford an application that large organizations have the budget for. What current business processes do you have that could be simplified with an application? All of these general statements should set off a light bulb. What piece of software could you benefit from, and don’t because of budget, doesn’t exist, current software solution has limitations, ect.
